We can all relate to stories about a person who spends tons of hours each day scrolling down Facebook timelines jumping from one profile to the next and their not even paid to do any of those stuff. It just feels wrong sometimes to even just look at the guy and not tell him to get a real life, but then you have to get ready for a real argument. These types are so into updating their digital life that they are more than willing to protect it against any foreign intruders.

I sometimes stumble across this thought because it pains me that as an internet marketer, at least I get something out of being engaged in social media and they don’t. Then there are days when I feel that there’s a lot more people better at my job than I do. I’m sure there are other interne marketers out there that feel the same I do. It’s actually funny the way I cringe when I see an individual on my friends list, circles and followings that has more online authority than I do. They’ve got more presence than I do because they certainly do a lot more interacting to other people that I can ever accomplish with my day. Now to defend myself, investing time on social media marketing is far from being the only task of an internet marketer. My day gets spread out towards building back links, creating content for websites, writing blogs posts and managing comments on the sites I’m maintaining. Having said that, I hope you see (for those non-internet marketers reading) that the mistake of spreading your efforts too thin becomes increasingly common as the number of marketing channels multiply as well. That is one clear advantage of those people solely dedicating their day on propagating nonprofit thoughts in social media.

Establishing a social media brand requires a lot of the same actions people wasting away their personal time on Facebook and Twitter does. To catch up, people like me who am doing this as a profession use website tools that provides the service of automating much of the stuff that needs to be done on these separate platforms. The race has begun between programmers, developers and service providers of these websites to present professional the best possible tool to help them with their daily struggles. I’ve recently come across one such tool. It’s called “IFTTT”. Apparently it stands for “if this then that”. I have yet to master all of the capabilities of this website which requires a visitor to sign up and become a user.

I’m sure you’ve used email clients and if you’re familiar with its rules and triggers functionality, the tool I’m telling you about basically works the same way. This new development is another tool that needs to be challenged if someone like me is to move forward. As you can see, the stage where we are in, like sand – is ever shifting.

A person who spends much of his day surfing the internet would eventually find himself into blogs. Blogging takes a huge percentage of the entire population of web traffic. Not only do people end up on blog sites connected to websites of companies but most often than not people would usually find themselves browsing into an individual’s blog site.

The openness of the internet allows a person with enough knowledge to compete in terms of traffic even with the company websites. There is certainly a huge advantage when a website is being maintained by a number of individual or a group instead of a single person. The old saying that two heads are better than one still applies on the World Wide Web. However, given enough time, knowledge and resources, a capable individual can negate many of the factors that a group of people can use as an advantage.

Social networking sites for example can be a powerful factor towards multiplying an effort. Since the majority of internet goers are most familiar with social networking sites, it is always a good idea to drive a point. Just think about a fan page and forget that most of them are used by companies. A person that wants to run a campaign whether for his business or for any other reason can easily get the help of his friends, relatives and his entire contacts to spread the word.

As someone who has a page like this myself, let me tell you what I mean of how to do marketing in social networking sites. In Facebook for example, the first step is always create a fan page. The most obvious difference of it with a regular profile is the removal of limits in terms of friends. With fan pages, all your adding are likes and the best thing about it is that Facebook didn’t put any limit to it. When you already have a fan page, you need to saturate your limit on your personal profile with friends. Add as many friends as you can and join as many groups as well. After doing so and expanding your network, the next step is engaging in discussion. Make your way into comments and timelines posting messages with a link directing to your blog or site. Search for related fan pages and do the same process. Make your posts as natural and on topic as possible. You just want to make your connections aware of your site not spam their page. Spamming brings the opposite result.

The last step is connecting all of it together with social media buttons. I’m sure you’ve all noticed it around the pages you’ve read. Social media connects the blog site to their social networking fan pages and vice versa. There are also buttons that functions to share the page to the visitor’s contacts. These buttons serves the purpose of making your visitors your own referrer. By simply clicking these buttons, they become of a chain reaction that hopefully won’t stop on the next visitor.

The upsurge of different social media firms for the past couple of years ousted quite a lot of traditional channels of communication. When I heard of social media firms, the first thing that came to my mind was Facebook and Tweeter. I asked a number of people around on their understanding of the said subject matter. They just about echoed my opinion with the addition of online business. However, there are vast theories on what social media companies really are, so let me share with you what it is not.

First it can never be monopolized by one entity. The flow of interaction is not limited to one person or agency both in industry or socially. The immensity of the playing field allows the entire population to make a comment or update and at the same time conduct business in it.

Second, methods used are not limited to one format. Usually when we read a newspaper then we can say that the news is in print. Thus the system used in making the public informed is print. In social media there are a lot of formats to choose from like text, video, photos, audio, PDF, and presentations. You can also use different tools in reviewing, propagating or interacting with any data made known. You can use computers (desktop, laptop or net book), tablets (all touch based portable devices larger than a phone) and smart phones (most especially those equipped with the necessary applications).

Another is that, social media firms are not limited by time or distance. Any ad placed in a specific bulletin board allows only the people within the vicinity to view the advertisement. With social media, any firm can make an advertisement and personal or classified ads and people all over the world will have equal chance at taking a look at the ad in real time. We do not need to wait for the postman to come and give us our notices; we receive it via the internet at almost the same time it was sent. Email is another form of social media and that is why most companies do their billing and notifications through it already.

Lastly, social media firms are not only about tweeting, commenting or even liking. It is also a way of taking notice of what the people are saying about your product, services and your brand in entirety. Taking part in people’s conversations, opening one’s ear to suggestions and the use these knowledge to formulate better business program are all part of the digital process that are taking companies to a whole new different level. With social media, these agencies are able to straight away the observation or the experience they had with a product or a service thus, causing the individual companies to make an immediate or necessary impact thereby increasing customer satisfaction. This is another kind of interaction a business is able to do with social media. The positive impact stirred to the customer not only affects him but also to those he is connected with. Increased customer satisfaction is one old way of increasing income.

Just a few years ago the definition of social media is nonexistent. Even today, as social media consultants, I would say that 90 percent of our pitch to potential clients is first educating them about social media. It is saddening to say that when you meet a business owner who has yet to engage his business by using different social media avenues as tool, chances are he really wouldn’t have any clue about it.

Some folks from my field would say that this is a loss of time and would probably lose interest because of the effort he have to put it to create a need for the business owner. Because, how can there be a need if the business owner doesn’t have any idea about what his missing? And boy is he missing a lot. Let’s just take Facebook for example; it is a company which has a billion users around the globe, studies have indicated that every day about half of those people log in to their account. That alone is a tremendous reason why that business owner is missing out on tons of opportunities. We’ve just mentioned a single website but its potential effects with a business are breathtaking. Even if the business owner’s goal for now is to take his business locally that still is not a good enough reason why you should give up or not to try out social media. Numbers would indicate that people situated in the city have a greater chance of having a Facebook account.

I for one am not disinterested at all every time I face someone who needs help. As a former educator I try to grab any opportunity that comes along my way to enlighten someone especially a potential client of his loss. They way I do it is I make them see how I look at social media. There is no best generic explanation on what the definition of social media is because it’s continually evolving. The most common we will find is that it’s an online platform that lets the viewers react, collaborate and share within the same area where the content is hosted. We’ve got YouTube, blog sites, social networking sites, and many others. Almost all the services on the internet are in fact already incorporated with features that would put them at the same category as social media sites. Every website owner wants to be associated with being a social media site, simply because that is what the people want.

I look at it as the next frontier of human evolution. I feel that the way social media came from simple fields at the bottom of the page that lets people comment reflects how our technologies as a species moved us further into the future. Those almost insignificant commenting fields made web developers realize that what the people need is for the internet to become interactive and not just an encyclopedia in the cloud. The demand lead to a revolution from the blog sites to the complex social networking sites that billions have signed up for today. We can argue that we are still at the bottom of the spectrum towards embedding social media with our daily lives.

Social media is here to stay. It has played a much deeper role in our society today than a lot of people have realized. For us to see the bigger picture, let us focus on just a particular aspect of social media. To try and gauge the impact of social media is in some ways taking a look at how social networking sites are doing. Social networking sites are perfect examples of the ideal form of social media. With social networking it is always a two way street or more.

Many have said that technology is the next step of human evolution. The same people would say that every product or technology invention launch moves us humans further away from apes. That may be so.

As someone involved with the process of making social media work together with businesses, it still surprises me to meet people who would say that social networking is a fad, because I think it is something that would definitely be staying and that I’m thinking people who were saying this sees it in a very different light. In fact, they might be the very same people who use it more frequently than others.

Having said all that, let us take a look at a particular place where social media seems to display its greatest strengths. Let’s take Facebook as an example as is has been the single website which have been able to move mountains all just using the principles that social media have given it. There are people who says that it is not wise to make so much investments towards Facebook may it be money, time or energy especially in the wake of its recent IPO launch last month. I say those are statements that are very hard to back up. They say that as time passes so will Facebook and that it would later on reach the faith suffered by its predecessors Friendster and Myspace. I say that by using those two previous social networking sites as a point of reference of what Facebook should see as inevitable is rather a little silly.

Yes, Facebook shares some qualities with those two sites because all of them are called social networking sites but the references should all be ended at that. To measure its efficacy on society, Facebook has summed up that they have 901 million active users. There lies much of its difference. Facebook only counts its active users, meaning they only count those profiles that are being accessed by its user monthly. That is not the case for any other company that relies on user base to tell its clients its garnered success. What anybody else would normally present is sign-ups.

Counting and presenting sign-ups instead of active users is in a way misleading, because what you are telling people is the numbers that really account for something that may or may not be valid. A sign-up means that someone has the intention to click the sign-up button and fill up some required fields but they might have no intentions on actually making the profile a digital representation of them on that site by using it regularly. Using the numbers of active users though, tells us how much it has affected and changed our society.

The advancement in technology especially in internet related technologies brings social media into many places and into the lives of many people. These advancements changes the way how people interact with each other. The continued developments become very useful for business owners and to how they do business. In today’s world, business is done mostly through the communication powers of the internet and with it comes the use of social media to reach the public and bring the business to the masses. With social media being the place for business, the demand to use social media icon in a business increased and the challenge for web designers to create themes for a certain website becomes more challenging. Social media icon has continued the growth of people’s interest.

A social media icon is a themed or dressed up icon used in a website to suit the design of the webpage. These special icons of course resemble a popular social media logo and can be placed to go together with the design of the website. Social media icons are usually linking the business webpage to the social media page. This is being placed in a business website in order for the visitors to easily go to their social media accounts. Having a social media in a business website will enable the visitors the ability to easily bookmark the product or the service chosen by a potential client. The customer will also be able to share the contents of the business website on popular social media sites. This had become a must have feature for business websites because this added feature will give them an additional way for their brand to be promoted.

A lot of people are familiar with social media icons. This feature, if integrated in a business website, will not be overlooked by the visitors and so it is always a good idea to have these special icons to link to social media sites. A social media icon gets the attention of the people and the logos are immediately recognizable. Since these icons can bring many advantages to a business, the owners are always looking for ways on how to have these in their respective business web sites. The social media icon can be placed in a business websites with of website designers. There are also free icons that can be downloaded from the internet and there are icons that can be purchased. In any case, a lot of caution should be done on the part of the business owner so that they will not fall victim to fraud and become statistics.

Social networking sites had become the place for most business to advertise their products and services. This is also where they gain more sales because a lot of people are flooding these social networking sites day and night. Unlike the usual business store, doing business in social networking sites are open twenty four hours a day, seven days a week and they are also open during holidays. If a customer wants to purchase something in an ungodly hour, an online business is helpful, especially if it is advertised in social networking sites. A social media icon only covers a very small portion in a business website but its role in generating traffic and contributing is a big help for the business.

Social media can are primarily known as internet-based applications where communication between organizations, communities and individuals can be done. Social media in business can be in the form of magazines, forums, blog, and of course, social networking sites. Social media is universally accessible, and can be used by everyone. Since it is being used by many people, many business people have integrated social media in business.

Social media in business had been one of the most effective advertising strategies of many online businesses today. Advertising campaign, promos and almost anything related to a product had been integrated by business owners in their respective website through social media, particularly social networking sites. It is for the purpose that many people could be reached by their advertisements and marketing. Having an advertisement in social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter is like having an opportunity to promote a product in a gathering of people or a special event where people come to celebrate. It is where you can attract a lot of customers to buy or support your product.

Having the addition of social media in business offers the business owners a lot of advantages. Aside from having the chance to promote to a large number of people, if business owners have social media in their business, particularly having the social networking sites, they will have the chance to have their business go global. Since social networking sites are available worldwide, having someone to like or follow your product will be a chance for your business to be known globally.

The challenge is how can a business website be followed or liked in social networking sites. A business owner could ask his friends to like or follow his website through social networking sites. This however is a slow process because one needs to have a significant number of likes and followers to be able to be competitive. To effectively answer this challenge, there are many providers that offer to give a business more likes on Facebook or more followers on Twitter. If one chooses to purchase Facebook likes or Twitter followers, providers will give the business owners more chance of having higher sales and more chance for the product to be very well known. Having lots of followers or likes will not only boost the sales but it will also increase the traffic to the website. Traffic is very important in a websites life span in the internet. The better traffic the website has is the better is its position or ranking in the search result pages. If your website enjoys good quality traffic, it means that many people are using the product or are seeking to have their services. Having a good amount of traffic means that many people trusts the business. With all these benefits that the business could have, the mixture of social media in business should be considered by business owners.

The way business is done had really gone a long way. With the advancement of technology comes the advancement of the way advertising is done for a business. With these innovations the competition has become stiffer than ever and to be able to come out on top is the goal of all business owners. If there is a formula for success, social media in business could be a perfect mix.s

Do you know a person who doesn’t have a Twitter account?

Or someone who doesn’t have a Facebook account?

These questions should certainly lead you asking, why use Social Media?

Websites which contain social media have proven time and again that they have a lasting factor. That they are something that people won’t be forgetting about after 6 months. That is the reason why it’s hard to find anyone who are not aware of them.

Social media if used right can be a very effective tool. Social media is able to do what traditional media have been doing through human history; only it does it at a countless more time faster, more effective and more fun. Social Media is our current marketing reality.

Now, why use Social Media?

We use Social Media to engage people. Your customers are on Social Media – so should you be! Most of your current and potential customers are online; you need to be there, too. It is a great tool for building a targeted, responsive list. One of the greatest reasons to use social media for a business website is because it’s the easiest way to connect to people that is relevant to your business.

The answers to why use Social Media keeps piling up. Social Media levels the playing field. Marketing is one of the largest expenses any company has. It is not your customers’ job to remember you are in business! Small businesses can takes advantage of social media’s cheap cost ratio. If compared to other means of marketing, social media is the place in business that usually size does not matter. Also, the potential market place you can reach is huge.

Another reason why use Social Media to monitor competitors. With the help of someone with the knowledge to analyze social media traffic, a business can gauge how their competition is doing. Being one step ahead of your competition is certainly in the mind of every business owner no doubt. They want to know of new products, ways of marketing and strategies that is keeping other afloat so they get integrate in their own company which ones are tested and working.

The two greatest benefits of why use Social Media for advertising: is to increase exposure and to increase traffic. A business who doesn’t crave attention would not last a week if it stays that way. Companies needs the support of customers to continue on existing. The more time you put into social media marketing, the better results you can yield.

Since social media marketing for advertising is not a fad or flash in the pan, it is smart for businesses to plan on utilizing the strategy and develop any necessary resources to perform social media functions for the long term. Like wine, the results get better with time.

I have absolutely no doubt that one reason why use Social Media is because it’s addictive. It is something that only the pessimist and unbelievers would think of only as a trend. Many would otherwise say that it is part of human evolution.
