Entrepreneurs are always on the lookout. They are either looking for business opportunities or ways of improving something about their current business. They all have a big goal at the end of their sight which they would stop at nothing to reach. There are entrepreneurs searching every corner of the globe trying to find a niche and to fill with his breakthrough idea. When his not doing that, his a good entrepreneur looks for new rules or decisions he can make to increase production, improve marketability and double the revenue of his company. And all of these things are mere results that was cultivated first from an idea.
How does one get fresh idea if he doesn’t look up to a mentor? The easiest way to go up is to follow the path of someone who has reached the top. Having someone to follow that has made impact on a certain industry you want to dominate cannot be underestimated. It is easier once you have gotten a legacy that acts as a thread on which to follow on what would otherwise be a pitch black path.
Steve Jobs can be one of those who are worthy enough to be tagged as such. An entrepreneur of his stature is certainly qualified enough to be made as a mentor for everyone. The best thing about it is that he lived in such recent times that his works, principles and values on which could serve as our guide are all well documented. It’s a bit ironic because his works (computers, digital technology, hardware, software and the internet) are things that makes following someone’s life and works possible.
There are many that call themselves students of Steve Jobs’ impact on society. Most of them are self thought of his works (obviously Steve Jobs can only directly touch an X number of lives through his life). And with our knowledge of his legacy we know that the ways of how he did things with his business and the level of success he has achieved, transcends the boundaries of industries. What this means is that whatever lesson we can take from the values he had applied with his own business, can still be appropriate no matter what type of industry your business is in.
Some can argue that social has sprouted from the innovation of Steve Jobs’ products. It is difficult to tell on what came first; Apple reinventing itself to be one of the first social media company or social media taking its roots into Apple. Truly Mr. Jobs has been the great innovator of our time. He has somehow foreseen the social media for businesses revolution and made his company embrace it way ahead of others. He used it to not just sell products, but to educate people. He mastered social media so he doesn’t just launch products and tell everyone about it, he instead builds connections. Having been one of the early adopter of social media made Steve Jobs the master of communication which he uses to not just sell his products but to transfer his ideas.
